Summary Draft 2 - Healthcare Drones

“Drones May Become ‘The Next Big Thing’ In Healthcare Delivery” by Sai Balasubramanian (2022), discusses the benefits and potential of drones in the healthcare industry. Historically, technology has always been utilized to surpass human limits. An example of this in modern times is drones. Despite the original intended usage in the aerial or military sector, innovations have integrated the use of drones into the healthcare industry. An example would be the delivery of medical supplies through drones. Drones, being compact aerial vehicles, allow the bypassing of ground traffic while still maintaining maneuverability through city infrastructure, and they are also able to reach difficult-to-access areas. As concluded in the article, drones help facilitate and quicken the delivery of medical supplies to patients facing challenges in access to healthcare or to patients in dire emergency situations. According to the article, the widespread usage of drones in various industries guarantees fu

Task 1: Self Introduction Letter

Dear Prof Brad,  I am writing this letter to share more about myself and my goals for this Critical Thinking and Communication module. My name is Qin Cheng, and I am a 1st-year student in the Mechanical Design & Manufacturing Engineering course. Formerly, I studied Aerospace Engineering at Nanyang Polytechnic. During my polytechnic studies, I realised that despite having a lack of interest in aerospace, I enjoyed tinkering around with stuff as well as learning about the inner workings and theories of how machines function. After graduating, I had a clearer understanding of my personal preference with regard to engineering. I had chosen my polytechnic course based on popularity and not based on my personal interest. With this realization, I decided to apply for my current degree as it did not just focus only on one single discipline of engineering and was thus the most versatile one. During my time in this degree, I truly hope to find a sector of engineering that I will be passiona

Task 3: The importance of communication skills for engineers

Choose a quote and explain:  “While all engineers should have good communication skills, global engineers face additional challenges, making effective communication an imperative.” Debra Kraft, Careers Content Writer, Demand Media (2016) Because an engineer’s job is intricate and technical and because not every person they collaborate with possesses the same level of technical knowledge, effective communication skills are crucial. In engineering, clear communication is essential in ensuring that everyone involved in the project is on the same page. This is especially important for global engineers, as they usually have to work with other people with different expertise or who speak different languages. Effective communication is required to bridge this communication barrier so that projects can progress smoothly without misinterpretation of communications. To reiterate, it is of utmost importance that engineers, especially global engineers, possess good communication skills in order t
